Xbox announces that in conjunction with their Project Scorpio release, they will also be adding functionality for mixed reality. While “mixed reality” could have implications anywhere from augmented reality (like Pokemon Go or Microsoft’s HoloLens) to virtual reality (Oculus/ Vive/ Rift), or could potentially land somewhere in between.
This will be the first venture into any type of virtual or augmented reality for Xbox, and Microsoft’s HoloLens technology should have many people excited.
A developer kit will become available (co-pioneered by Acer) at launch, and has very promising specs (although it looks like a retro VR helmet that you would see at the mall in the 90’s).
Microsoft also reports that more details will be unveiled at their Build conference in May.
