According to a new rumor from Japanese website Mac Otakara, Apple will be holding its own event in March where Apple intends to host a new line-up for the iPad Pro. In addition to the new iPad line up, the Apple will also be providing new red color option for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus along with launching a 128GB iPhone SE. The report also indicates that Apple could also launch new, seasonal bands for the Apple Watch.
The new report cites a Barclay analyst who says that Apple may unveil four iPad Pro models next month. As rumored by the previous leaks, the iPad Pro tablets are expected to be available in 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch display sizes. The Barclay analyst also adds that Apple may announce a new 7.9-inch model, as well as claiming that Apple will remove the 10.5-inch in favor of the new 10.9-inch model. Reflecting on a previous report, the analyst adds that the new iPad Pro models will support Apple Pencil 2 which is also rumored to debut at the same event. Apple is also expected to release a more budget friendly 9.7-inch iPad, which could possibly replace the the iPad Air 2 at the low end of the company’s tablet lineup.
It is also worth keeping in mind that Mac Otakara previously stated that 10.9-inch iPad Pro which has now been changed to say 10.5-inch will be bezel free with no home button due to its edge-to-edge design. Whereas for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro model the blog stated that it will feature a 12-megapixel back camera and True Tone display similar to the current 9.7-inch model. It will also be using advanced four-channel ambient light sensors which will help it automatically adapt to the color and intensity of the display to match the light in the surrounding environment.
As far as the 7.9-inch iPad Pro model is concerned, the blog states that it will feature a Smart Connector, True Tone display, four speakers, and a 12-megapixel back-facing iSight camera with True Tone flash, going by the evenly distributed specs it definitely feels like Apple is trying to standardize features across all upcoming models. Furthermore, all new iPad Pro models are expected to have quad microphones as well.
These reports fall in line by the reports made by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who stated that Apple is developing 9.7-inch, 10.5-inch, and 12.9-inch iPad Pro lineup for 2017. Ming-Chi Kuo also reported that the new pro models will have the much faster Apple A10X processor, whereas the budget friendly 9.7-inch model will have an A9X chip.
